LESSON 3: 8 Watercolor Techniques
This week we will be practicing watercolor techniques! Don't forget--you can always email me if you have questions! chassie@elizabethacademy.com
1. Gather the following materials. If there is a material you don't have, that's ok! See if you can figure out something else you have that you can use instead to create your own interesting technique:

1 sheet of water color paper from the watercolor notebook we sent home with you.
-
Pencil
-
The paint palette and paintbrush we sent home.
-
Newspaper or something to lay down under your work.
-
1-2 small cups with water.
-
1-2 Q-tips.
-
Isopropyl Alcohol
-
Salt.
-
1-2 Tissues
-
1 small square of sandpaper.
-
1 small square of Saran Wrap.
-
1 light-colored crayon.
-
1 birthday candle.
3. Watch this week's lesson: 8 Watercolor Techniques for Beginners!
4. Using your pencil, draw 8 rectangles on your paper like the ones seen in the video and label them: Alcohol, Salt, Tissue, Sandpaper, Crayon, Candle, Plastic Wrap, Splatter.
4. Create samples of the watercolor techniques in the video. Take a photo and post to the assignment in Google Classroom or send it to chassie@elizabethacademy.com

This week we will be learning about the artist Piet Mondrian! Don't forget--you can always email me if you have questions! chassie@elizabethacademy.com
1. Watch one or both of the "Who is Piet Mondrian" videos below to see this artist's work and find out more about him.
2. Gather the following supplies:

1 sheet of water color paper from the watercolor notebook we sent home with you.

The paint palette and paintbrush we sent home.

Newspaper or something to lay down under your work.

Cardboard cutouts of a square and rectangle (see video of me for more description).

Black marker (or black crayon if you don't have a black marker).

1-2 small cups with water.
-
Ruler (optional)
